It used to be a well used expression – are you in rude health?

What does it mean? Are we supposed to be rude to be healthy? Are we supposed to be rude and impose ourselves on others regardless of the consequences for our own health?

Yes, for our own health definitely – but we must also be aware of the consequences of our actions on others.

We have forgotten the original meaning of the word ‘rude’ – it comes from the same root as the word ‘red’. The colour ‘red’ represents ‘active spirit’ which is what we all are if we are fully alive. Less active beings resent the action of more alive beings on themselves and internally shout ‘red’ or ‘rude’ – hence its current meaning.

To be fully active in all our undertakings is our true ‘rude’ state. If we are fully active we do not care about the unknowing ‘rudeness’ of, so called, others.

We welcome it – for to understand it and activate it is our rude awakening!
